Introduction

Yesterday, October 23, we held a webinar dedicated to MOCA (Materials and Food Contact Objects) compliance for food labels. This event was designed for food companies who want to ensure that their food products that have a direct-contact label are in compliance with current regulations, while better protecting consumer health. Below, we summarize the main topics covered during the event.

What did we talk about in the webinar?

The legal requirements for food labels

We began the webinar by explaining the main obligations that label manufacturers and food companies must comply with in relation to MOCAs. We stressed the importance of using materials suitable for food contact to avoid contamination and ensure product safety.

Manufacturers must ensure that the materials used comply with European and Italian regulations to avoid legal risks related to consumer health.

MOCA legislation

The central part of the webinar was devoted to the relevant MOCA legislation.

We discussed in detail Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, which is the main legislative framework for MOCAs, and Regulation (EU) 10/2011, which defines the specific rules for plastic materials.

These regulations, which are certainly very technical, were explained with many examples by Davide. They impose strict standards to ensure that the materials and labels used in food packaging are safe for the end consumer.

Declaration of conformity and consumer safety

Finally, we focused on the importance of the declaration of compliance. This document is critical for demonstrating that materials and labels comply with all MOCA regulations and requirements. Providing a proper compliance statement not only protects the consumer, but also protects the company from any legal or image problems.

During the webinar there were many questions asked by participants in the chat and we are glad you enjoyed the topic.
